Writing clearly and unambiguously is extremely important, as is the ability to recognize ambiguity both in works that you write as well as in works that others write. This session is approximately 120 minutes in length.
Lesson Objectives – by the end of the session, the participants will:
- Have practiced identifying, writing, and correcting ambiguous statements
- Have learned specific strategies for avoiding and removing ambiguities (i.e., via punctuation, sentence structure/ use of shorter sentences, sloppy phrasing, in-precise language, etc.), defining terms, etc.
- Be committed to completing post-session assignments, which will be reviewed by trainers, as developing these skills requires a great deal of practice
- Understand instances where ambiguity can be useful in the context of a grant proposal
