Between June and November of 2024, Writing for Green’s (WFG) 21 Coaches had the privilege of providing technical assistance to 241 organizations applying for the EPA’s Community Change Grant, as a subcontractor to EnDyna. These applicants – frontline CBOs, educational institutions, and municipalities – benefited from the expertise of our team, who have an average of 15 years of experience in grant writing, non-profit management, and program design/implementation.
The technical assistance (TA) provided by our team included providing advice on project scoping, and suggestions for improving both the content and organization of various narrative and budget components of the applications. One of the most rewarding aspects of this work was learning about the high impact work being carried out on a daily basis by environmental- and health-focused organizations across the United States, and helping these groups to better-position themselves for funding. Proposed initiatives included replacing lead water pipes on tribal lands, establishing solar-powered charging infrastructure on former superfund sites, creating strong mechanisms for engaging citizens in decision-making processes that affect their health and environment, and much more. So far, numerous groups to whom WFG provided TA have been notified that they were approved for funding (with more awards forthcoming)!
Did this TA make a difference? Yes! Even the most innovative thinkers and doers benefit from an outsider perspective, and our talented writers/coaches/subject matter experts provided just that. Some Clients needed help refining their ideas in the conceptual stage, while others needed nuanced support to optimize the structure and/or content of their proposals.
Does your organization need help scoping a project or refining, or writing a grant proposal? Reach-out to us for a consult!
